Residents and team members at Rownhams Manor are celebrating after successfully hitting their fundraising target for the 1K a Day Challenge in February, in support of Dementia UK.
Throughout the month, residents and team members came together each day to walk one kilometre, raising both awareness and vital funds for the charity. The challenge not only encouraged physical activity but also created a strong sense of camaraderie and community spirit, with participants enjoying the opportunity to take part in something truly meaningful.
The initiative sparked incredible enthusiasm, with residents sharing stories, supporting one another, and embracing the benefits of staying active and engaged. Thanks to their dedication – and the generosity of those who donated – Rownhams Manor has successfully reached its fundraising goal, making a valuable contribution to Dementia UK’s ongoing work in supporting those affected by dementia.
Samantha Squibb, General Manager at Rownhams Manor, said:
“I am beyond proud of our residents and team for their incredible commitment throughout this challenge. The 1K a Day fundraiser has been about so much more than just walking – it has brought people together, created wonderful moments of connection, and reinforced the power of community. Knowing that our efforts will help support Dementia UK’s vital work makes this achievement even more special. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, and cheered us on along the way!”
This achievement reflects Oyster Care Homes’ dedication to promoting wellbeing, engagement, and a sense of purpose for residents, while also supporting important causes that make a real difference.
Although the challenge may be over, the spirit of staying active, connected, and involved will continue at Rownhams Manor. The team looks forward to future initiatives that bring the home and the wider community together for meaningful causes.
