Rownhams Manor Care Home recently welcomed three members of the local Scouts as part of a community partnership initiative.
The young volunteers spent time helping residents care for the garden as part of their fundraising efforts to achieve the Explorer Badge—a milestone that includes a 10-day expedition abroad.
82-year-old Rownhams Manor resident, Sandra Philips, spoke about the Scouts:
‘They were all so nice and spoke to us about what they do in the Scouts – they do some unbelievable things for the community.’
To show appreciation for the Scouts’ hard work, Rownhams Manor made a donation towards their upcoming trip abroad to achieve the Explorer Badge.
Samantha Squibb, the General Manager at Rownhams Manor, added, ‘We were really pleased to welcome the Scouts to Rownhams Manor; our residents thoroughly enjoyed working with them. We’re proud to support their goals and admire their commitment to personal growth and community service.
‘The Scouts did a wonderful job helping the residents plant beautiful new flowers, which all of our residents and visitors will enjoy all summer long.’
