Last week, Somer Valley House was filled with laughter, celebration, and heartfelt moments as residents came together to mark the birthdays of three incredible individuals. The home was decorated, cakes were cut, and most importantly, memories were shared as Blanche, Jean, and Alexander celebrated their special days surrounded by fellow residents and team members.
Blanche, who turned 89 years young, had one request – a fruit cake with marzipan, icing, and all the trimmings. A true lover of tradition, she was delighted to receive her favourite birthday treat.
When asked what advice she would give to the younger generation, she shared a powerful message:
“Learn as much as you can about everything that you can!”
Jean celebrated her 85th birthday with a classic Victoria sponge cake, a timeless favourite. Reflecting on her years of experience, she offered a simple but valuable piece of advice:
“Be on time and don’t leave things to the last minute.”
Alexander marked his 80th birthday in style, choosing a chocolate ice cream cake for the occasion. His words of wisdom for younger generations were filled with resilience and determination:
“Keep plodding on and never give up.”
The celebrations were a true reflection of the strong sense of community at Somer Valley House, where every resident is recognised, celebrated, and valued.
