Rownhams Manor proudly welcomes Shirley as its first resident, marking a significant milestone in the life of the new luxury care home by Oyster Care Homes.
Shirley, an 88-year-old former hairdresser from the local area, brings her rich history and vibrant spirit to Rownhams Manor, setting the foundation for a close-knit community atmosphere.
Having grown up in Worthing and then spending her life in nearby Fleet and more recently Romsey, Shirley’s stories from her hairdressing days to her adventures with her late husband Peter resonate with a life well-lived. Her hobbies include gardening and tuning in to her favourite TV shows like “Loose Women”, “Emmerdale” and “Countdown”. Shirley is particularly thrilled about the salon at Rownhams Manor, where she looks forward to regular pampering sessions, something she has long provided to others.
Family is a cornerstone of Shirley’s life. She is immensely proud of her son Jonathan, his wife Sarah, and her two grown up grandchildren, James and Ben.
Shirley fondly remembers her husband Peter, who sadly passed away 18 months ago after a joyful marriage of 60 years. He was not only her spouse but also her best friend.
Samantha Squibb, General Manager of Rownhams Manor, expressed her excitement, “Welcoming Shirley as our first resident is a joy and a privilege. Her warm personality and engaging stories make her a perfect fit for Rownhams Manor. We are dedicated to providing a home where Shirley and all future residents will thrive.”
