Rownhams Manor, the latest addition to our care home family, celebrated its grand opening on 14th May. This milestone event marked a new chapter in comprehensive care within the community.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by local dignitaries, community members, and media personalities, including South Coast celebrity Fred Dinenage, who had the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon, alongside the care home’s very first resident, Shirley. The event was a delightful gathering that also welcomed school children from the local area who enjoyed an array of treats and cakes.
Rownhams Manor is committed to setting a high standard in care with a focus on sustainable living. The entire facility operates on Solar PV panels, aiming for net-zero carbon emissions, in partnership with LNT Care Developments.
Guests at were treated to a showcase of the home’s premium facilities, including a fully equipped bistro, state-of-the-art cinema, professional hair salon, and a cosy café. The opening also featured delightful cuisine prepared by the care home’s Head Chef Dominic, adding a taste of luxury to the day’s festivities.
Among the special guests were representatives from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Menshed, who gifted a handcrafted bird table. The Mayor and Mayoress of Itchen Valley were also in attendance, alongside members of The Big Difference charity, highlighting Rownhams Manor’s community involvement.

Shirley, the first resident of Rownhams Manor, symbolises the beginning of what promises to be a thriving community. A former hairdresser, Shirley brings her vibrant spirit and rich life stories to the Manor, much to the delight of the team and fellow residents.
