Potter House care home recently welcomed officers from the Avon and Somerset Police for a special community event, ‘Coffee with a Coppa’.
The gathering provided residents with an opportunity to enjoy a warm drink, friendly conversation, and open dialogue with local officers about matters important to them, like police initiatives in the wider community.
81-year-old resident, Lesley Little, said, ‘It was so lovely having time with the police officers and to be able to talk about what matters to us. It made us feel seen and heard.’
Fellow resident, 88-year-old Geoffrey Sambrook added, ‘I really enjoyed having the police visit and have a cup of coffee with us, we had a laugh and a good catch up.’
This event is part of the wider Community Tree initiative across all Oyster Care Homes, where homes actively collaborate with local groups, schools, and organisations to ensure residents stay connected to the communities they know and love.
General Manager at Potter House, Callum Pearce, added, ‘We want residents at Potter House to continue to feel an active part of the local community and retain a voice in local affairs.
‘Events like Coffee with a Coppa are vital. They break down barriers and help our residents feel valued. We’re very grateful to the police officers who joined us and look forward to welcoming them again soon.’
All are invited to join the residents at Potter House at the home’s weekly event, Tea on Tuesday, where people can socialise and discuss current affairs over a warm drink and light refreshments.
Tea on Tuesday takes place at 10:30 at Potter House care home, 103 Highfield Road, Yeovil, BA21 4RJ.
