Potter House Care Home Strengthens Community Ties with Yeovil Air Cadets

6 February 2025 Potter House

Potter House is set to open in March 2025 in Yeovil, bringing high-quality, resident-centred care to the local community. As part of our commitment to fostering strong community connections, General Manager Callum Pearce had the pleasure of visiting 1032 Yeovil Squadron Air Cadets this week.

During the visit, Callum was given a tour of the Squadron, met with cadets and leaders, and explored opportunities for collaboration between the care home and the local Air Cadets group. Plans are already in motion to welcome the Squadron to Potter House’s upcoming Open Day, where they will have the opportunity to engage with residents, team members, and visitors.

Looking ahead, the care home hopes to host regular events with the Squadron and provide valuable opportunities for cadets to get involved in community engagement and volunteering. As part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, cadets will be invited to support activities within the home, helping to build meaningful intergenerational relationships between residents and young people in the area.

Speaking about the visit, Callum Pearce, General Manager at Potter House, said:

“It was a privilege to meet the fantastic team and cadets at 1032 Yeovil Squadron Air Cadets. Community engagement is at the heart of what we do at Oyster Care Homes, and we’re excited about the opportunities to work together. We look forward to welcoming the Squadron to our Open Day and to building a lasting partnership that benefits both the cadets and our future residents. Supporting young people in their development while also enriching the lives of our residents is something we are passionate about, and we can’t wait to get started.”

Potter House is also committed to supporting local fundraising efforts and aims to work closely with the Squadron on future initiatives. The home will incorporate state-of-the-art sustainable features, including solar panels, battery storage, and ground-source heating, aligning with Oyster Care Homes’ mission to achieve net-zero carbon emissions while providing outstanding care.

With a strong focus on community involvement, sustainability, and high-quality care, Potter House is set to become a welcoming and vibrant home for residents in Yeovil.
