Oyster Care Homes is delighted to announce the successful completion of several inspiring time capsule projects across three of its care homes: Furze Field Manor, Copperfield Court, and Rownhams Manor. These initiatives have not only brought joy and engagement to residents and participants but also created lasting memories for all involved.
At Furze Field Manor Care Home, a collaboration with LVS Hassocks, a specialist school for children with autism, led to the creation of a time capsule filled with treasures reflecting the students’ creativity and experiences. The capsule includes Lego models, heartfelt letters, group pictures, and documentation of events from 2024. Beata Wojcik, General Manager of Furze Field Manor Care Home, remarked, “It was incredibly inspiring to see the students from LVS Hassocks engage with such enthusiasm. Their contributions to the time capsule are truly heartwarming. We are honoured to be part of this project and look forward to many more collaborations in the future.” Starting September 2024, students from LVS Hassocks will regularly visit Furze Field Manor, fostering intergenerational connections and enriching experiences for both students and residents.
Copperfield Court Care Home recently commemorated its grand opening with a celebratory time capsule burial ceremony. The capsule, filled with special items and memories, includes contributions from Copperfield Court residents and team members, the Brownies from St. John’s Church in Margate, and pupils from Charles Dickens School. This collection will be a treasure for future generations when opened in 50 years. Eve Balcombe, General Manager of Copperfield Court Care Home, shared her excitement: “The time capsule ceremony was a wonderful way to celebrate the opening of Copperfield Court. The contributions from our residents, team, local Brownies, and pupils from Charles Dickens School are truly heartwarming. It is an honour to create a lasting legacy that will be cherished by future generations. A big thank you to everyone for participating.”
Meanwhile, Rownhams Manor Care Home partnered with the students of Rownhams St. John’s CE Primary School to create a unique time capsule filled with letters and beautiful artwork by the students. The dedicated team at Rownhams Manor also organised a scavenger hunt, which the students eagerly completed, showcasing their enthusiasm and teamwork. The capsule was buried in the care home’s gardens and will be opened in 50 years. Sam Squibb, General Manager at Rownhams Manor Care Home, said, “It was amazing to see the children from Rownhams St. John’s CE Primary School so full of energy and creativity. Their contributions to the time capsule warmed our hearts, and the excitement during the scavenger hunt was just fantastic. We’re so lucky to have such wonderful community partners, and we can’t wait to work on more projects together in the future!” Jo Moroney, Child and Family Support Service at Rownhams St. John’s CE Primary School, added, “Our students had a fantastic time participating in the time capsule project at Rownhams Manor. It was a great opportunity for the children to learn about preserving memories for future generations. The scavenger hunt added an extra element of fun. We look forward to the next event.”
Oyster Care Homes looks forward to continuing our collaborations and making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
