Joyful Visit from Albourne Pre-School Brings Smiles to Residents at Furze Field Manor Care Home

18 December 2024 Furze Field Manor

Residents at Furze Field Manor were recently treated to a heart-warming visit from the under-5s of Albourne Pre-School. The young visitors arrived with excitement and energy, travelling by bus from Albourne to spend a memorable afternoon with the residents.

The visit was filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful connections as the children and residents came together for a range of fun activities. The little visitors kicked off the afternoon with lively songs, encouraging everyone to join in with the help of jingling bells handed out to residents and children alike. The cheerful singalong was followed by playful activities using a colourful parachute and balloons, sparking movement, interaction, and lots of shared smiles.

After all the excitement, the children shared biscuits with the residents, while Furze Field Manor gifted the young visitors chocolate coins as a gesture of thanks for brightening everyone’s day.

One of the children captured the magic of the visit, saying simply, “We love it here.” The impact of the day was also felt by Albourne Pre-School’s group leader, Eve Gerhold, who reflected on the positive experience, saying: “It was lovely to see the residents’ faces light up with the arrival of the children.”

The team at Furze Field Manor believes in the power of intergenerational activities, which provide opportunities for meaningful interaction between residents and young children. Such visits have been shown to boost mental wellbeing, reduce feelings of isolation, and create cherished memories for both generations.

Wendy Peacock, General Manager at Furze Field Manor Care Home, said:

“Intergenerational activities are really important for us at Furze Field Manor. We love seeing the smiles these moments bring to our residents and our young visitors alike. We’re already looking forward to welcoming the Albourne Under-5s back again soon!”

Furze Field Manor remains committed to providing opportunities for its residents to connect with the wider community, promoting wellbeing, joy, and moments of shared happiness.
