Since opening in May 2024, Furze Field Manor care home has quickly established itself as a care home that prioritises compassion, quality, and person-centred support. To ensure it maintains the highest standards, Furze Field Manor recently welcomed Simon Cavadino, an experienced independent care professional, to conduct an external inspection of its services.
This independent review, while not carried out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), forms an important part of Oyster Care Homes’ quality assurance approach. It offers a comprehensive evaluation of the home’s care delivery, operations, and overall resident experience. The inspection report highlighted Furze Field Manor’s warm and welcoming environment, the exceptional standard of personal care, and the strength of its governance processes.
A warm, cheerful environment
Furze Field Manor was commended for its positive and friendly atmosphere, with the inspection noting that good-natured interactions and moments of laughter were seen throughout the home. Residents and team members were observed sharing conversations and building relationships, fostering a real sense of community. Feedback from residents and relatives reflected this welcoming environment. One resident described Furze Field Manor as “far better than the last care home I was at”, while a family member called it a “godsend” for their loved one.
The inspection report highlighted that this warm, supportive environment stems from a dedicated team of compassionate care professionals who work hard to create a space where residents feel safe, comfortable, and valued.
High standards of personal care
Furze Field Manor’s personal care was described as attentive, compassionate, and respectful, with team members ensuring that residents were consistently well-presented, clean, and comfortable. The inspection noted that support was provided promptly and with a high degree of care, reflecting the team’s commitment to preserving the dignity and independence of every resident.

Residents dined together in a relaxed setting, and the chef personally served the meals, adding a homely and thoughtful touch. Residents also praised the quality of the food, with one resident sharing, “I especially like the food here. It’s very good.”
Governance and compliance excellence
The inspection highlighted Furze Field Manor’s robust and well-organised governance processes, highlighting its commitment to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Comprehensive systems were observed for audits, staff training, and care plan development. The inspection found no breaches of regulatory compliance, demonstrating Furze Field Manor’s strong operational oversight.
Effective staffing levels were noted as a key strength, ensuring that team members have ample time to engage with residents in meaningful ways. Recruitment processes were seen as thorough, with a recommendation to enhance employment history records to ensure they are fully complete. This feedback was welcomed as part of Furze Field Manor’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence.
Meaningful activities and personalised experiences
Furze Field Manor’s approach to activities was praised for its focus on engagement, stimulation, and social interaction. Residents were observed participating in activities such as flower arranging, puzzles, and social games. Plans are also underway to forge new partnerships with local schools and community groups, with the aim of introducing intergenerational activities that enrich the lives of residents.
The inspection also highlighted the home’s commitment to providing individualised experiences for residents. These included a visit from a Harley-Davidson motorcycle for one resident and a trip to a local golf course for another, reflecting Oyster Care Homes’ ethos of delivering memorable, meaningful moments for every resident.
