Residents at Copperfield Court recently embarked on a culinary adventure, exploring the vibrant flavours of Mauritian cuisine. The experience brought a taste of the island’s rich cultural heritage to the home, sparking conversation, curiosity, and plenty of enjoyment.
The star of the menu was Bol Renversé, a popular Mauritian dish that blends Chinese and Creole influences. Translating to “upside-down bowl,” the dish is known for its striking presentation – a fragrant stir-fry of chicken and vegetables, carefully layered over steamed vegetable rice, and crowned with a perfectly fried egg.
To complete the experience, residents indulged in Napolitaine, a traditional Mauritian sweet treat. These delicate shortbread biscuits, filled with strawberry jam and coated in sugar icing, melted in the mouth and proved to be a firm favourite among those with a sweet tooth.
The event was not just about food; it was a celebration of culture, shared experiences, and the joy of trying something new. Many residents reminisced about their own travels and past culinary experiences, with discussions flowing as freely as the tea and coffee that accompanied their desserts.
At Oyster Care Homes, creating meaningful experiences is at the heart of what they do. Whether through food, activities, or connections with the wider community, the team is always looking for new ways to engage, inspire, and bring happiness to those they care for.
