Copperfield Court has been filled with the joyful sounds of Christmas carols and laughter this festive season, thanks to visits from three local primary schools. Pupils from St George’s C of E Foundation School, Bromstone Primary School, and St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School joined residents for heart-warming intergenerational gatherings that truly captured the spirit of Christmas.
These visits were about more than just music; they were an opportunity to foster relationships, bridge generations, and create lasting memories. The children not only sang Christmas carols but also spent time chatting with residents, sharing stories, and bringing festive cheer to all.
Eve Balcombe, General Manager at Copperfield Court, commented:
“Hosting the pupils from these wonderful schools has been such a privilege. The pleasure and excitement they brought to our residents were truly magical. Intergenerational activities like these remind us of the power of connection, the value of shared experiences, and the importance of community. We are so grateful to all the schools and their pupils for their warmth, kindness, and incredible performances.”
Residents were equally delighted by the visits, with Wendy Pope describing the children’s performances as “truly marvellous,” while Margaret Walton added, “They have all done brilliantly.” For Maureen Surtees, the highlight of the festive season has been “watching all the children come in and do their best. It’s truly wonderful to watch.”
These intergenerational activities create a sense of purpose and joy for both residents and children, offering a unique opportunity to share traditions. Copperfield Court care home is proud to be a space where these meaningful connections can flourish.
A huge thank you to St George’s C of E Foundation School, Bromstone Primary School, and St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School for making this festive season truly special.
