Lauren knew she wanted to work with the elderly ever since leaving school, this was due to an extremely close relationship with her Nan and looking after her towards the end of her life.
She obtained GCSE and A-Level Health and social care and started as a care assistant as soon as she could and never looked back!
Beginning her journey in a nursing home for people with sensory loss and other physical disability and mental health conditions, learning sign language and all of the care basics! She progressed to senior there before moving to another home to become senior/team lead for residential and then dementia care.
She was offered an opportunity to become a deputy manager and completed necessary qualification to do so. Later becoming a dementia care manager, before finding Oyster!

Nick Bowden
Head Chef
Nick Bowden
Head Chef
Nick began his chef career in the care sector, and after gaining experience in restaurants, hotels, and as a self-employed chef, he is excited to return to my passion for care. Nick has recently moved back from France, where he lived and worked for six years. While he loved his time in the mountains, skiing or hiking almost every day, he missed the West Country.
While having a deep appreciation for French cuisine, having honed his skills there, he also has a passion for hearty British and European dishes.
Bruce Headford
Head of Maintenance
Bruce Headford
Head of Maintenance
Born and raised in Somerset, Bruce began his career in horticulture after training at Radstock Tech and Cannington College. Working as a plantsman and landscaper at a local nursery before becoming the Head of Maintenance and Gardener at a 54-bed hotel.
In the mid-1980s, his career took a different direction when he decided to pursue a career as an HGV driver. Spending 30 years driving across the UK, Europe, and Africa, before a health scare in 2020 led me back to my roots in gardening and maintenance at a care home in Bath.
He lives locally with his partner, Vicky, and can often be found pottering in the garden at home or entertaining his six grandchildren. He is a National Trust members and love spending time exploring the local sites on leisurely strolls.
